Jamel Richardson, Search Engine Optimization Expert (SEO)
As a former landlord of seven properties, Jamel understands your bottom line. Jamel knows that vacation rental owners and managers need to rent their vacation rental properties!
Therefore, whether you are a new or existing property owner, you must use advertising and marketing channels to land bookings. However, advertising can be an expensive quest when trying to reach an international audience. This is where an investment in search engine optimization can make an impact on bookings.
Enter Jamel Richardson. With a highly technical background, one would not expect Jamel to be such an avid traveler. The two interests may appear incongruent, but Jamel blends his talents by specializing in vacation rental SEO. As the lead SEO specialist for FindRentals.com, Jamel has increased their vacation rental traffic by 400% in the last three years.
Trained as a computer programmer, he earned his Computer Information Systems degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Illinois in 1994. After decades of working as a programmer, Jamel has retrained as an SEO specialist. He is excited about leveraging his technical savvy in the travel industry.
Selecting Effective Online and Social Media Blends
Marketing and advertising channels such as newspapers, magazines, television, radio, and billboards are expensive, even if you are an expert in leveraging them. So, how can a vacation rental owner or manager realistically market properties on a national level for a reasonable advertising budget?
One of the most effective branding, marketing, and advertising channels these days are social media platforms. These include Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. Thankfully, these platforms allow vacation rental owners to build, market, and advertise their brand on a national level for very little cash outlay.
However, without the extensive training and knowledge, capturing the social media market could be time-consuming, and possibly even counter-productive. Do you really want to be trained in social media advertising? Perhaps you would rather stick with what you know best, and leave the rest for “the best.”
Jamel has developed a social media broadcasting network, specifically to reach those interested in travel and vacation rentals. This strategically defined network enables vacation rental managers to get their brand in front of travelers. We target those who want to travel and ultimately book a vacation rental property in your area!

Speaker and Educator for the Vacation Rental Business
VROM: Vacation Rental Owner’s Manual.
Ms. Nelson, in this field since 2004, fell into the vacation rental business by happy accident. She initially marketed her own condo to fund her daughter’s education. Her daughter had an independent study opportunity in England, and Ms. Nelson wanted to help make it happen.
By transforming her home into a short-term vacation rental, along with marketing six other vacation rentals, the business provided the extra income needed. Consequently, not only did her daughter finish the independent study in Europe but she graduated from college. Therefore, once her daughter graduated, Nelson entered her second career as an author-publisher-speaker. However, Ms. Nelson is also a vacation rental consultant and has helped people to start their successful vacation rental businesses.
Ms. Nelson spoke at the Florida Vacation Rental Association in May of 2016. Her presentation was entitled: The Vacation Rental Guest DNA–What Makes them Book and What Keeps them Coming Back?
After giving this workshop, Nelson realized her presentation hit a nerve, As a result, she wrote her newest book–Don’t Let Them Steal Your Brand! 10 Vacation Rental Niches to Make Your Bookings Soar. This book is a brainstorming tool to help vacation rental managers brand properties and stimulate bookings.
Also, Ms. Nelson gives a free branding tools workshop to vacation rental managers to learn to brand, and better position their agency in the growing billion-dollar market.
